When Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia set out to add new facilities to its Sports Science Center and renovate its existing gymnasium, it looked for an approach that would be both environmentally friendly and eye-catching. Architects
Woodhead™ Perth based their design for the expanded complex on large areas of art printed in-glass. Two glass walls - the largest measuring 88 sqm (947 sqft) and comprised of 40 panes - let natural light into the gymnasium and exercise areas, and showcase sports-themed murals, creating unique effects from the outside and inside. Printed in-glass with Dip-Tech digital ceramic inks, the vibrantly colored murals stand up to the brutal UV rays of the lengthy Western Australian summer and also protect the interior from UV Radiation.
