"Reflection, light and pattern are used throughout the Hanjie Wanda Square to create an almost fantastical world." said Ben van Berkel, a member of the luxury shopping mall's design team. This design aesthetic clearly seen in the digitally printed glass funnels crowning the main atria of the mall which serve as skylight and elevator shafts. The geometric shapes were printed directly onto the glass of the funnels with controlled transparency so the natural light will flow.  One funnel is golden and bronze appearance designed to reflect traditional culture while the silver and grey appearance of the other funnel reflects the city and urban culture.
