Approaching from the south east side of Amsterdam, a region undergoing significant development, the Fletcher Hotel clearly marks the entrance into the city. Also referred to as the Fletcher A2 Hotel because of its proximity to the A2 highway, it stands at an impressive 60 meters high and 24 meters in diameter. The hotel is also set to receive the Green Key Gold, the highest recognition for sustainability and corporate social responsibility in the recreation sector.
The hotel with its tall and slim silhouette with bent screens and round windows creates a distinct look among its surroundings. The unique printed glass façade with a circular motif and shades of blue interacts powerfully with the sky. The façade is also comprised of an inner and outer shell which provides functionality in noise reduction and lighting, and it is not just for aesthetics.
The architecture of this structure can be appreciated both in day time and in the evenings and from all sides.
